ABC 10 News

The California State Capitol was partially evacuated Friday after a threat was reported at a construction site in the Capitol complex.

Senate employees working in the Historic Capitol Building were directed to leave and work remotely for the remainder of the day. Construction crews were also evacuated.

Employees in the Legislative Office Building and Swing Space were not affected and were allowed to remain in place.

The California Highway Patrol was at the Capitol assessing the threat and inspecting the area. Senate officials said there was no indication the threat was credible.

CHP completed a sweep of the construction site and the Capitol building. They said both are clear and deemed to be safe.

The Capitol building will reopen to the public for normal business hours on Monday at 9 a.m., according to CHP.

CHP said they will continue to investigate the initial threat.
