So Gavin Newsom has indicated he plans to run for president. No duh. Really? What a surprise!
We saw this coming 500 miles away with the way he has been shifting to the middle on issues in an attempt to look like a moderate when he is truly a radical progressive who won’t be able to defend his failed radical policies in California and win most of the states.
The hypocrisy of this guy knows no bounds. He has condemned Trump’s removal of the east wing of the White House to build a new ballroom, writing on X: “While all the districts pay extra for groceries and every day goods, the White House is excited to announce that the capitol is creating a grand ballroom for opulent parties. May the odds be ever in your favor!”
Nevermind that Trump isn’t using taxpayer funds.
But guess what? As is typical when they criticize the president, they’re doing the same thing. In California there is a secret $1.2 billion to $1.6 billion renovation of the state capital complex which is being financed entirely by taxpayers. The removal of the annex at the back of the capitol and replacing it with an expensive remodel will leave us with one of the most expensive buildings in the United States! The capital annex was built in the 1950s era and really didn’t need replacing. Cloaked in secrecy, some original estimates suggested the renovation would cost $500 million but according to KCRA-TV the project has balloon to possibly over $1.6 billion. The Democrats have been less than transparent since reports revealed that more than 2,000 people involved in the project were required to sign nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), limiting public access to spending and contract details. If this doesn’t smell like a massive elitist in-your-face effort to bypass public concerns over this project, I don’t know what would qualify.
The new building’s architecture has been criticized as well with glass and steel and a private corridor, so that lawmakers can privately make their way to their respective chambers and parking lots without ever facing the public.
Donald Trump is privately funding the White House renovation, but those on the Left have zero interest in finding out the true cost of the expensive California capital project.
State Assembly Republican leader James Gallagher said of the capital annex project last May: “This project is not about serving Californians. It is about serving themselves. And taxpayers are the ones stuck with the bill. Californians deserve answers, not more excuses. They deserve a government that works for them, not one that walls itself off behind billion-dollar doors.”
